Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Remembers 9/11
WASHINGTONLast night Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) took part in a ceremony with fellow Members of Congress on the Capitol steps commemorating the 6th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Today he reflected on the tragic events that changed our nation forever.
"The years continue to come and go but we will never forget the horror, tragedy and loss we experienced on September 11, 2001. As we mark yet another anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in our nation's history, we must continue to stand together in defending our freedoms and the democratic society we are privileged to be a part of.
"It is important to remember and thank all of those who have perished in the name of freedom, not only on 9/11 but in the aftermath of those events. Our brave men and women in uniform are among the finest in the world, and we must always salute their courage, bravery and service.
"Diversity is what makes America the great nation that it is, and despite differences in political views and opinions, the common factor that unites us all is our love of freedom. We must continue to stand our ground and prove that no one, not even Al Qaeda, can tear that freedom apart," said Diaz-Balart.
