Statement on the passing of Representative Paul Gillmor

Congressman Michael R. Turner (R-Centerville) released the following statement upon the passing of Representative Paul Gillmor.

I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing of my colleague, and dear friend, Paul Gillmor. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife, family, friends, and staff. Paul was deeply committed to his family and friends, and was a true statesman for the people of Ohio. All Ohioans have benefited from Paul's dedicated service and commitment to his community.

I have had the honor of working with Paul on several issues that were important to him and had a significant impact on the families of Ohio's Fifth District. For example, Paul recognized the importance of brownfield redevelopment as an economic tool for our communities. Additionally, Paul and I shared a great concern about the detrimental effects of predatory lending practices on families. Paul knew the adverse affects predatory lending has on Ohioans and was committed to working towards solutions that would help all American families.

Today we have lost a great man. Paul Gillmor will be remembered as a dedicated family man, passionate public servant, and a dear friend.
