Congresswoman Moore Responds to Gen. Petraeus' Report to Congress

Congresswoman Moore released the following statement in response to General David Petraeus' report to Congress today.

"Time's up - we must responsibly end our open-ended commitment in Iraq now. The surge has failed to produce significant improvement in Iraq. Last week's independent GAO report found that we have fully met just 3 of the 18 political, economic and security benchmarks in Iraq. Today, we have another lukewarm report that asks us to give the Administration more time in their stubborn commitment to putting our troops in the middle of a civil war.

"I have a deep respect for General Petraeus and the impossible task he has been handed, but we cannot continue to hand over resources to this war without significant security, economic and political progress.

"It is far past time to end our open-ended commitment to policing a civil war and get our troops out of Iraq."
