Moore Statement on Emergency Legislation to Help Minnesota after Bridge Collapse

House Expected to Pass Legislation Tonight to Provide $250 Million in Emergency Funds to Help Rebuild the Interstate 35W Bridge

Congresswoman Gwen Moore released the following statement on the House of Representatives' emergency legislation to help Minnesota after the bridge collapse. The legislation is expected to pass tonight:

"My deepest sympathy goes out to the friends and families of those lost in the tragic bridge collapse in Minneapolis this week. We are praying and grieving for them in their time of loss.

"I want to thank the rescuers for their brave and self-less acts of heroism. Two of the volunteer rescuers on the scene included a young man from Milwaukee, Josh Lee, and another Wisconsin native, Damon Canady. These two young men courageously stepped forward to assist in the rescue. I commend their courageous and valiant efforts to save victims from this heartbreaking disaster.

"I am pleased to join my colleagues in the House of Representatives in providing immediate assistance to Minnesota after this tragedy. The funds we are voting to provide today would help to repair and replace the Interstate 35W Bridge - a major roadway for the Twin Cities."
