Today Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, announced that all bridges in the 25th Congressional District are safe.
"My priority is the safety of constituents and all Floridians who travel on the bridges throughout our community. I am pleased that the U.S. Department of Transportation reports that we do not have any immediate threats to the structure of the bridges in the District that I represent," said Diaz-Balart.
In a letter to Diaz-Balart, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Oberstar confirmed that the U.S. Department of Transportation released statistics this week verifying that no bridges are structurally deficient in the 25th District, which includes parts of Miami-Dade, Collier and Monroe Counties.
"I once again express my most sincere sympathies to the families of the victims of the Minnesota bridge tragedy. Although the bridges in Florida's 25th District are safe, we must continue to work together until all bridges in the state are confirmed structurally sound," concluded Diaz-Balart.
