CORNYN STATEMENT ON CAPTURE OF SADDAM HUSSEIN

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, made the following statement Sunday regarding the capture of Saddam Hussein:

"Today's capture represents a major victory for American forces, our national security, and most of all for the people of Iraq. There will be no more attacks directed by Hussein, no more taunting audio tapes issued from a cave, and certainly no fear exists that he will return to brutalize Iraqis.

"The future can now fully begin for the nation of Iraq. This arrest closes a dark chapter, and represents one giant step further down the road to a free, stable and democratic Iraq."
