CORNYN APPLAUDS DECISION TO NAME ALPHONSO JACKSON NEW HOUSING SECRETARY
U.S. Sen. John Cornyn made the following statement Friday regarding President Bush's nomination of Alphonso Jackson, who has strong Texas ties, to be the new head of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD):
"I'm extremely pleased that the President has nominated Alphonso Jackson to be the new Housing Secretary. He's well prepared to hit the ground running and I'm confident he'll do an excellent job in his new role.
"His vast experience and background will help ensure a seamless transition of leadership at HUD, which will guarantee that our nation's housing and development needs are met, and that a key component of our nation's economy continues to grow."
