Walz to Host Southern Minnesota Economic Summit in Austin

On Friday, July 20th, Rep. Tim Walz will host an economic summit in Austin, Minnesota to address the changing rural economy in southern Minnesota.

"This summit will bring together a host of experts to focus on southern Minnesota's economic opportunities and challenges, and I am very interested to see what ideas develop during this important dialogue," Walz said. "We are extremely fortunate to have so many Minnesotans at the top of their fields generously lending their time and expertise to this effort."

The 2007 First Congressional District Economic Summit will convene southern Minnesota's business community, renewable energy experts, local and state level policy makers, transportation professionals, healthcare experts, and innovation and technology developers to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with our regional economic prosperity. Topics will include: energy security, opportunities for local farmers and ranchers, thriving main street businesses, critical needs in transportation infrastructure, and the challenges facing our healthcare and education systems.
