Murphy Statement on State Senator Lou DeLuca's Case

Today, Congressman Murphy issued the following statement on State Senator Lou DeLuca's actions and his status in the State Senate:

"Senator Deluca is a good, decent man who has had a long, distinguished career representing the people of his district. The future of Lou's public service is up to him and his constituents.

"But Senator DeLuca is more than a representative of his constituents. As the Republican leader of the State Senate, Senator DeLuca is part of the face of state government. The shadow his actions have cast is not just over the 32nd Senate District, but over the entirety of state government.

"People are losing their faith in politics because they believe that there is no accountability in government any longer. In order for people to have their confidence restored in public service, illegal actions must have consequences, and I believe that Lou can help himself and help his state by stepping down from his leadership position."
