Clyburn Receives Leadership Award from American Friends of Lubavitch

House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn last night was presented with the American Friends of Lubavitch Leadership Award at the annual Benefit Event at the Mellon Auditorium. Rabbi Levi Shemtov served as the master of ceremonies and the award was presented by last year's recipient, Republican Whip Roy Blunt.

"I am honored to receive this award, especially as the Jewish community and the Congress mark the 40th Anniversary of the Six Day War," said Clyburn. It's even more appropriate that I receive this award in the form of a Menorah from my friend and counterpart, Roy Blunt. For us to surmount the challenges that face us in this country and around the world, we must come together like the branches of the Menorah to achieve the goals of our nation. With House passage this week of a resolution recognizing the anniversary of the Six Day War, we recommit ourselves to the goals of achieving peace in the Middle East and to continuing our close friendship with the State of Israel."

The American Friends of Lubavitch is an organization which represents the Chabad-Lubavitch movement of Judaism.
