Boozman: English the Common Thread
Cosponsors English as Official Language Bill

U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today announced his support for declaring English the official language of the United States, cosponsoring H.R. 769, the National Language Act of 2007.

The bill, introduced by Rep. Peter King (R-NY), makes English the official language of the U.S. Government; requires all official government business be conducted in English; enhance the role of English as the official language of the United States; and that all naturalization ceremonies and oath of allegiance be conducted solely in English.

"The English language is the common thread which binds Americans, no matter our ancestry," Boozman said. "This bill will allow new citizens to create a foundation based on English which will allow them to better realize the promise of the ‘American Dream."

Earlier this year, Rep. Boozman also cosponsored similar legislation: H.R. 997, the English Language Unity Act of 2007.
