Boozman: WRDA Good for Arkansas
U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today joined a bipartisan majority of the House of Representatives to pass the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2007.
"WRDA is an important bill for the 3rd District, and the whole of Arkansas," Boozman said. "The flood control provisions in the bill will increase the safety of 3rd District residents and property owners.
"Additionally, WRDA helps strengthen the infrastructure of the country by improving our waterways to allow for increased commerce," Boozman said. "This is especially important for Arkansas manufacturers and agriculture producers.
"It is good for Arkansas, and I am happy to join this bipartisan majority to make WRDA a reality," Boozman added.
The legislation authorizes a $30 million flood damage reduction project at May Branch, near Fort Smith, on the Arkansas River and modifies the Pine Mountain Dam project by adding environmental restoration to the project and secures better financing for the non-Federal share of the project's cost.
