Boozman Rejects Arbitrary Deadline

U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today voted against the Democrat-backed conference report for the Iraq war supplemental which included an accelerated timeline for withdrawal and nearly $29 billion in pork-barrel spending.

"The American servicemen and women deserve the money to do their mission, without the specter of timetables," Boozman said. "In March, the supplemental I voted against had a hard deadline of the end of August next year. This new legislation moves that date up to March."

"Instead of ensuring the safety of our troops by providing them the supplies they need, the House leadership has chosen to make the situation even more dangerous by undermining their mission," Boozman added. "The last thing our troops need is a General Pelosi, or 534 others, telling them how to accomplish their mission.

"Our troops deserve a bill which can help them succeed, not one which hamstrings them. I reassert my contention that setting an arbitrary deadline helps does nothing to help our troops," Boozman added.
