REP. COURTNEY SEEKS ANSWERS ON STUDENT LOAN INDUSTRY CONTROVERSY DURING HOUSE HEARING

Representative Joe Courtney today had an opportunity to question New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo during a House Education and Labor Committee hearing regarding unfair and unethical student loan lending practices.

The House Education and Labor Committee, of which Congressman Courtney is a member, held a hearing titled, "Examining Unethical Practices in the Student Loan Industry."

New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo was the Committee's only witness. Mr. Cuomo has been conducting an investigation into the relationship between schools and student loan lenders in light of allegations of unethical practices and conflicts of interests in the student loan industry.
