Boozman to Participate in AWTC Opening

U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today announced his participation in the events celebrating the grand opening of the Arkansas World Trade Center next week in Rogers. Boozman will also host Deputy Secretary of Commerce, Dr. David Sampson, and a trade delegation from six Central American countries and the Dominican Republic as special guests in an agriculture producers roundtable held in conjunction with the opening.

"Next week will be the culmination of a tremendous amount of work by many people focused on making the Arkansas World Trade Center a reality," Boozman said. "The WTC will be a benefit to the business community and people of Arkansas."

The grand opening will be at noon on Friday, April 13 at the Arkansas World Trade Center headquarters in Rogers. Boozman will speak at the opening. Also speaking at the opening will be University of Arkansas Chancellor Dr. John White and the members of the trade delegation: Ambassador Tomas Duenas of Costa Rica; Ambassador Rene Antonio Leon Rodriquez of El Salvador; Ambassador Jose Guillermo Castillo Villacorta of Guatemala; Ambassador Arturo Jose Cruz Sequeria of Nicaragua; and Ambassador Flavio Dario Espinal of the Dominican Republic.

The nine-member international delegation is in Arkansas as guests of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. The group arrives in Northwest Arkansas on April 12 and will be Boozman's guests at an agricultural roundtable that afternoon which will explore new export markets for Arkansas produce in Central American and the Dominican Republic.

In addition to the five ambassadors, the members of the trade delegation include Georges de La Roche, charge d'affaires of Guatemala; Maria Bennaton, trade minister counselor of Honduras; Wellington Bencosme, minister for economic and trade affairs from the Dominican Republic; and Enilson Solano, counselor for economic affairs, from El Salvador.

"The purpose of the Arkansas World Trade Center is to expose foreign leaders to the positive business opportunities of Arkansas," Boozman said. "Our goal with establishing the Arkansas WTC was to create the opportunity to put Arkansas business leaders together with international leaders in order to form a successful partnership which will benefit the people and businesses of Arkansas.

"I want to thank Dan Hendrix of the Arkansas WTC and Dr. White for helping make the WTC a reality," Boozman continued. "I look forward to welcoming the foreign delegation to Northwest Arkansas, becoming their friend, and showing the world what Arkansas has to offer."
