Gov. Mike Rounds today issued the following statement regarding today's Citigroup announcement.
"We have talked to officials from Citigroup. We understand the impact to be minimal in Sioux Falls; around 40 of the nearly 3000 jobs being affected by the end of the year. We're told that most of those employees will likely be offered severance packages or have opportunities elsewhere within the organization.
South Dakota fared well in this business decision considering cuts elsewhere. Citigroup officials assure us that they remain committed to Sioux Falls and that they're doing their best to accommodate any displaced employees."
