Walz to hold 9 additional Farm Bill meetings in April

Congressman Tim Walz announced today that he will hold Farm Bill discussions with local farmers, interested citizens and community leaders in nine additional cities across southern Minnesota during the April congressional district work period. The 2007 Farm Bill will provide funding for several federal priorities important to Minnesota, Walz said, including the farm safety net programs, conservation, rural development, renewable energy research, school lunch programs and disaster assistance.

"The Farm Bill is one of the most important pieces of legislation considered by Congress," said Walz, a member of the House Agriculture Committee. "Minnesota has a unique opportunity to have a far-reaching impact during the upcoming Farm Bill discussions in Congress. I am eager to gather input from farmers and local residents about what's working and what needs to be addressed in the 2007 Farm Bill."
