Boozman Calls for Elimination of Gun Ban

U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today affirmed his commitment to Second Amendment rights by co-sponsoring legislation which will grant law-abiding residents of the District of Columbia the right to own a gun.

The bipartisan legislation, known as the District of Columbia Personal Protection Act, is sponsored by fellow Arkansas Congressman Mike Ross (D-AR04) and Indiana Republican Mark Souder.

"Earlier this month, the D.C. District Court struck down the D.C. gun ban," Boozman said. "Despite the District's strict gun laws which stifle personal ownership, D.C. continues to suffer from skyrocketing crime rates.

"Today in Washington, a homeowner can be arrested for using a gun to defend themselves from a burglar, thanks to the gun ban," Boozman continued. "The courts have called this ban unconstitutional. I do not see any reason to allow the ban to continue, and I am proud to join other Members who wish to see it ended.
