WALBERG SUPPORTS LEGISLATION HONORING BLACK HISTORY MONTH, WILLIAM WILBERFORCE

U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI7) will support legislation honoring Black History Month (H. Res. 198) during votes tonight in the House.

"Black History Month is an important way for our country to pay tribute to the contributions African-American men and women have made throughout America's history, and I am honored to support this legislation," Walberg said.

The Congressman has also co-sponsored legislation remembering the life and legacy of human rights activist William Wilberforce (H. Res. 158), a member of the British House of Commons who devoted his life to the abolition of the institution of slavery.

"William Wilberforce embodied the idea of being a statesman in public service," Walberg said. "His remarkable life is one we should honor, study and emulate, and I am humbled to link my name to his by supporting this legislation."
