U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar Statement on Senate Iraq Resolution to Change Course in Iraq

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar today issued the following statement after voting on the Iraq resolution calling for a revision in U.S. policy toward Iraq.

"The message I've heard all across Minnesota is that we need a change of course in Iraq. The resolution I voted for today, much like the bipartisan Iraq Study Group's recommendations, calls for a phased redeployment of our combat troops out of Iraq.

"It's disappointing that while Iraq is mired in a civil war, and our own Minnesota National Guard troops are having their tours extended, some Senators continue to support an open-ended, stay-the-course strategy.

"After four years, this open-ended commitment does not serve the interests of our troops or the Iraqi people, who must stand up and forge the necessary political solutions."
