Reaffirming the 2nd Amendment

U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today announced his support for the rights of citizens to defend themselves by signing on to co-sponsor H.R. 73, the Citizens' Self-Defense Act.

The legislation, offered by Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD), guarantees the right of American's to bear arms to provide personal protection of themselves, their family and their property.

"Criminals, not guns, are at the root of crime in America," Boozman said. "Law-abiding citizens must have the right to protect themselves and not be denied their right to obtain a weapon in order to defend themselves."

H.R. 73 also provides for persons whose rights to obtain a weapon have been violated to bring suit for damages against the federal and state governments, and individuals.
