Buildings for the 21st Century
U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today announced his support for more energy efficient construction, by cosponsoring H.R. 539, the Buildings for the 21st Century Act.
The legislation would extend the energy efficient commercial buildings tax deduction, a tool which encourages the construction of buildings which consume less energy. The tax deduction will expire at the conclusion of the 110th Congress.
"Currently, commercial buildings are responsible for 40% of American's annual energy consumption, including 70% of our electricity," Boozman said. "It is common sense that we do everything we can to encourage more efficiency in all quarters which will lead to greater independence and a cleaner environment."
