Statement of the Honorable Rosa L. DeLauro

Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) released the following statement today in response to the Government Accountability Office (GAO) report requiring the U.S. Department of Defense to re-bid the $15 billion, November 9 award, for 141 U.S. Air Force helicopters.

"I am very pleased that the GAO has agreed that this contract was unfairly awarded. This is a first step toward getting these helicopters built here in Connecticut by the best workers in the world. Sikorsky's workers deserve the chance to compete on a level playing field for the right to build the next combat search-and-rescue helicopter for the Air Force, and I believe that they will win this contract when it is re-bid."
