CONGRESSMAN HENRY CUELLAR INTRODUCES BILL TO IMPROVE CUSTOMER SERVICE IN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar introduced the Federal Customer Service Enhancement Act, a bill which calls for higher customer service standards within the federal government.
"Governments around the world - and many state governments - are focused on improving customer service by setting standards for performance," said Congressman Cuellar. "It is time for the U.S. to follow their example and catch up with the rest of the world by raising the bar for customer service."
The Federal Customer Service Enhancement Act would require the head of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to jointly develop performance measures to determine whether federal agencies are providing high quality customer service. It would also set in place standards to be met by each federal agency.
Congressman Cuellar continued, "I believe that a bill improving federal customer service is long overdue. I look forward to working with my House colleagues in raising the bar for federal customer service."
