Bill Reduces Traveler's Security
U.S. John Boozman (R-AR) voted against H.R. 1, the Democrat attempt at adopting the recommendations of the bipartisan 9/11 Commission.
Boozman's chief concern: the elimination of personnel management authority of the Transportation Security Administration.
"Not allowing the TSA the flexibility needed to deploy its personnel by giving workers collective bargaining power is a needless risk to the American people," Boozman said. "These men and women perform a vital and critical mission to protect the nation's homeland.
"In the event of an emergency, we need these people to respond at a moment's notice to help out Americans. Now, thanks to this bill, we have the potential where union-like rules will dictate who goes where, and when, during a national crisis," Boozman added. "No where did the 9/11 Commission recommend the unionization of the TSA. The Commission recommended ways to streamline the process, not enact obstacles to protecting people.
"H.R. 1 reduces the security of our nation, and the security of the American traveler," Boozman added.
