CONGRESSMAN HENRY CUELLAR APPOINTED TO HOMELAND SECURITY COMMITTEE

Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar was selected to serve as a member of the United States House of Representative's Committee on Homeland Security.

"I'm honored to have been selected to such an important and vital committee," commented Congressman Cuellar. "I believe that this committee assignment will help me address the needs of my district. The 28th Congressional District of Texas encompasses over 150 miles of continuous border with Mexico and has 13 international points of entry. Additionally, my district also includes the fourth largest trade port in the United States, which is the nation's largest inland trade port."

Congressman Cuellar continued, "As a lifelong resident of the border, I'm ready for this assignment, and I will work to improve the safety of all Americans regardless of where they may live. I look forward to working with my new committee colleagues on legislation that balances security concerns with both trade and civil rights."
