Congressman Henry Cuellar Announces LIFE Downs Improvement Project

Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar announced that the Laredo International Fair and Exposition (LIFE) Downs has received over 7100 cubic yards of recycled asphalt valued at over $71,000. The recycled asphalt, which was secured by the Congressman's office from the Texas Department of Transportation (TX DOT), was used to pave over 8 acres of formally dirt parking areas at LIFE Downs.

"I have always been a strong supporter of LIFE Downs, and I'm proud to have played a part in securing the materials necessary for this major renovation," noted Congressman Cuellar. "This improvement project will enable LIFE Downs to attract expanded audiences and events, which will certainly help the local economy."

"Our mission at LIFE Downs is to work with, and support, young people in Webb County who are interested in the areas of agriculture, horticulture, home economics, and the vocational/industrial trades. To fulfill that mission we need to improve and expand our facilities. Thanks to Congressman Henry Cuellar for taking the lead in developing a partnership with County of Webb, TXDOT and LIFE Downs that will provide for the much needed paving at the fairgrounds.
