U.S. - India Nuclear Deal Reflects Shared Interests, McConnell Says
U.S. Senate Republican Leader-Elect Mitch McConnell released the following statement Monday on the enactment of the Henry J. Hyde United States-India Peaceful Atomic Energy Cooperation Act of 2006 (H.R. 5682):
"I believe this historic, bipartisan legislation is a new and welcome development in U.S.-Indian relations, reflecting the shared interests and principles of the world's two largest democracies."
The final agreement cleared the Congress on December 9, and was signed by the President Monday.
