DeLauro Commended for Support of Federally Employed Women
Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) was today commended for her support of issues important to federal workers, and in particular, issues of concern to federally employed women. DeLauro received a top rating of 90% on a Voting Record Scorecard for the 109th released today by Federally Employed Women (FEW). DeLauro was one of only twelve Representatives who scored 90%.
"Congress has an opportunity to enact real reform for all workers by working to end the practice of outsourcing of American jobs and supporting paid leave," said DeLauro. "These initiatives are particularly important to federally employed women, who have traditionally faced many obstacles in the workplace like equal employment. I thank FEW for honoring me with this scorecard rating today and look forward to furthering issues important to federally employed women in the new Congress."

The FEW Voting Record Scorecard is based on votes and co-sponsorship of top legislative issues for federally employed women. These initiatives include: support for Paid Parental Leave Act, which provides six weeks of paid leave for federal workers (both fathers and mothers) following the birth or adoption of a child; voting against budget cuts the eliminate federal programs, and voting against the outsourcing of federal agency jobs.
FEW is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1968 after Executive Order 11375 was issued that added sex discrimination to the list of prohibited discrimination in the federal government. FEW serves over one million federally employed women - both in the military and civilian workforce.
