Rep. McCollum Appointed to Seat on Powerful House Appropriations Committee

The U.S. House Democratic Steering Committee today named Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D-MN) to the Committee on Appropriations. Speaker of the House-designate Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called McCollum to inform her of the appointment. The Appropriations Committee directs federal spending decisions.

"This assignment is an incredible honor and an important opportunity to serve Minnesota," said McCollum. "The Appropriations Committee provides the perfect position for me to work to ensure federal tax dollars are invested wisely and responsibly to keep our country and our families strong."

In January, McCollum will be starting her fourth term serving in Congress representing Minnesota's Fourth Congressional District.
