Boozman Introduces Jordan Resolution
U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today introduced H. Res 1095, commemorating the one-year anniversary of the November 9, 2005, terrorist attacks in Amman, Jordan and reaffirming the support of the United States or an important ally in the Global War on Terror.
"Since the tragic events of September 11th, there has been no stronger ally in the Middle East than Jordan. This country has arrested suspected al-Qaeda terrorists, supported the global war against terrorism, and worked with the United States to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East," Boozman said. "Sadly, on November 9th, 2005, Jordan itself became a victim of terrorism. Terrorist bombs exploded at western targets in Amman, Jordan, killing and injuring scores of people, including those attending a wedding.
"This bill condemns with the strongest language possible the terrorist attacks that took place on November 5th," Boozman added. "As a strong ally of the United States, this bill also reiterates the support of the U.S government towards the Jordanian people and its government. As the global war on terror continues, supporting our strongest ally in the Middle East is essential."
Rep. Boozman has secured a bipartisan group of 26 Representatives as original co-sponsors of the resolution.
