Statement of Governor Kaine on Senator George Allen's Concession
RICHMOND Governor Timothy M. Kaine today released the following statement in response to today's election concession by U.S. Senator George F. Allen:
"I appreciate and honor the respect Senator Allen demonstrated for Virginia voters by today's decision to concede the 2006 Senate election to Jim Webb.
"Senator Allen deserves our appreciation for his 23 years of service to the Commonwealth in the House of Delegates, as Governor, and in Congress.
"Senator Allen's remarks were gracious, and his decision allows Senator-elect Webb to continue moving forward without rancor or dispute to assemble a team that will serve Virginia and the nation in the United States Senate for the next six years."
