Larsen Statement on Resignation of Defense Secretary Rumsfeld

U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) released the following statement today after Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld announced his resignation:

"Last night Americans clearly delivered a message to the President that they demand a new direction in Iraq."

"The President's announcement that Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld will resign presents an opportunity to change the course of the Iraq war."

"As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am dedicated to pursing this change and pushing the President to take a fresh look at Iraq and the unsuccessful policies of the past."

Larsen represents Washington state's 2nd Congressional district.
