Turner to Host Congressional Members for BRAC Military Review at Wright-Patt

Dayton, Ohio - Congressman Michael R. Turner (R-Centerville) will host two Members of the Military Quality of Life and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, for a tour and briefings regarding federal funding for military construction necessary due to the BRAC recommended job increases at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This is part of Rep. Turner's on-going efforts to increase the knowledge among Congressional Members about the important work and missions occurring at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

On Wednesday, October 25, 2006, Congressman Turner will welcome Representatives Denny Rehberg (MT-At large) and John Carter (TX-31) to Ohio's Third District. The members are visiting to better understand the missions contained at Wright-Patterson and the future Military Construction (MILCON) needs as a result of the 2005 Round of BRAC. The Military Quality of Life and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations subcommittee, which they sit on, is responsible for drafting the appropriations bill to fund military construction projects.

Rep. Turner said, "Our work on BRAC at Wright-Patt is not over until the jobs that are slated to come here actually arrive. I enjoy raising the profile of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base among Members of Congress. I am excited that Representatives Carter and Rehberg and coming to Wright-Patterson to see the future needs of the base firsthand. As two of the appropriators who sit on the Subcommittee which makes the decisions in the U.S. House about funding that affects expansion and construction at Wright-Patt, it is important for them to see the critical work and needs at the base."
