CRAPO: PRESIDENT STRIKES "RIGHT BALANCE" IN MAKING IRAQ CASE TO THE UN

Washington DC - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo today applauded President George W. Bush's strong remarks before the United Nations regarding the future of Iraq. "The President has struck the right balance between U.S. leadership and UN involvement regarding future help for the Iraqi people and the Iraqi government. As a nation, we welcome and appreciate the assistance both with troop support and financial help that UN member nations will offer, but the President is correct in saying we can't rush the process of democracy in Iraq."

"Once again, the President has made the case that terrorism is widespread, ranging from Jakarta to New York to Washington, DC to the UN facilities in Baghdad," Crapo added. "While the price tag of Iraq involvement may be steep, it is fair for U.S. taxpayers and Congress to anticipate that UN members and Iraqi oil reserves will assist in paying the tab for creating democracy in Iraq."
