HANK JOHNSON WINS PUBLIC SAFETY ENDORSEMENTS

DeKalb, Rockdale and Gwinnett Sheriffs Pledge Support

DECATUR - After a stunning primary victory, which forced the incumbent into the upcoming August 8thHank Johnson received the endorsement of three Fourth Congressional District lawmakers. Today's announcements follow the recent endorsements and contribution of the national and state Fraternal Orders of Police (FOP).

At a press conference today, DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown, Rockdale Sheriff Jeff Wigington and Gwinnett County Sheriff R.L. "Butch" Conway announced their support for Hank Johnson and against incumbent McKinney. Sheriff Wigington could not attend the early morning announcement but conveyed his remarks through Sheriff Brown.

"I am a lifelong advocate for justice, public safety, and most especially our public safety officers," said Johnson. "I abide by the law. And I respect the sworn personnel who protect citizens and uphold the law. I am very pleased to receive your united support and you will always have a friend in Hank Johnson."

The 4th District includes most of DeKalb County, half of Rockdale County to the south and a part of Gwinnett County to the north. Primary results are encouraging with 45 percent Johnson to 47 percent for the incumbent. Johnson came within 2,000 votes of the incumbent and forced a runoff.

"Now she says the race is on but the race started long ago and continued without her," added Johnson. "She took District 4 voters for granted and that was a mistake. Voters want change and I will provide the leadership we all deserve. I'm asking every voter to return to the polls on Tuesday, August 8 th and vote for me, Hank Johnson, for Congress."
