CARTER CONDEMNS NORTH KOREA'S REPORTED NUCLEAR TEST
Washington, DC, Oct 9 - Representative John Carter (TX-31) made the following statement regarding reports that North Korea has conducted a nuclear weapon test:
"North Korea's claim of a nuclear weapon test is unacceptable. The actions of Kim Jong-il put the world at danger, and the international community must come together to address the ongoing nuclear ambitions of North Korea. It is important that Congress support President Bush and our allies as they determine the best course of action in disarming North Korea. Today's news also reaffirms the need for missile defense technologies in the United States.
"Kim Jong-il has repeatedly ignored calls to disarm, and we must defend ourselves against such criminal and defiant acts that threaten the globe."
