CONGRESSMAN HENRY CUELLAR NAMED IN LIST OF TOP 100 HISPANICS IN THE COUNTRY

Washington, DC- Congressman Henry Cuellar was recently named by HispanicBusiness.com as one of the top 100 Hispanic Business influentials of 2006. Congressman Cuellar was the only U.S. Representative recognized on the list comprised of government officials, corporate leaders, educators and entertainers from around the world. Other public officials on the list included U.S. Senator Robert Menendez and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson. The top 100 were chosen based on significant contributions made to their communities, personal bests achieved throughout their careers, and for raising the bar for other individuals in their fields.

As a former Texas Secretary of State and a fourteen year member of the Texas legislature, U.S. Congressman Cuellar has dedicated most of his life to public service. Today, he works on the Budget and Agriculture committees in the U.S. House of Representatives and has secured over $950 million in federal assistance for his South Texas district. Utilizing a results-oriented, bi-partisan approach, he works closely with his colleagues to tackle our nation's most pressing issues. Congressman Cuellar has passed eleven consecutive amendments on the House floor, ranking him first among all first year Members of Congress and third among all House members. With five collegiate degrees, Congressman Cuellar is also the most degreed member in the U.S. House of Representatives today.
