Former Governors Miller and Bryan Endorse Dina Titus, Citing Experience, Vision
Dina Titus' experience, vision and thoughtful, intelligent leadership are precisely the elements needed in Nevada's top office, according to two men who know the job well - former Governors Bob Miller and Richard Bryan. At an afternoon news conference today, Miller and Bryan enthusiastically endorsed Titus, praising her knowledge and approach to the issues most important to Nevada's future during these challenging times.
"Dina Titus can and will be an excellent governor for the State of Nevada," said Miller, who worked with Titus throughout his tenure in the state's top office. "Her leadership has been evident early in the process on every key issue - issues important to seniors, to children, to health care. She's there making sure that polices are implemented, giving good advice and guidance. She looks at issues carefully and thoroughly."
Bryan stressed the importance of choosing the right person to lead Nevada in the face of many challenges ahead, in areas like education, transportation and economic development. "The State of Nevada is at a crossroads," he said. "Do we move forward, back or stay in one place? Dina has highlighted in her campaign a sense of vision and where a leader needs to take this state. No one in my political lifetime has been better prepared and superbly qualified to be governor."
The two also praised Titus' ability to work "across the aisle" and arrive at bi-partisan solutions on contentious issues, as well as her toughness - which both men described as an important characteristic for an effective governor.
"These are two men I've been honored to work with over the years - who have been role models and friends in this long business of politics," said Titus. "They have established traditions of caring about the people of Nevada, and of looking forward. These are traditions I hope to continue as governor."
By electing Titus, said Bryan, "Nevadans will be rewarded with leadership that all of us - Democrats, Republicans and Independents - will be proud to follow."
