Lucas Pleased in Osage Court Ruling

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Third District Congressman Frank Lucas made the following statement in reaction to a recent U.S. Court of Federal Claims ruling that the federal government mismanaged oil lease royalties owed to the Osage Tribe and its members

"I'm pleased the Osage tribe has prevailed. This case is another example of the mismanagement of Native American royalty issues by the federal government, and of the decades of incompetence at the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

"This ruling is a victory for not just the Osage tribe, but for all mineral owners. Every mineral owner deserves to be adequately compensated for the oil and gas production from their property, and any infringement of that right by the federal government is a threat to the personal property rights of all Americans."
