Whitehouse, in North Kingstown, Calls for Real Solutions at Thirtieth Community Cookout

Cranston, R.I. - North Kingstown's American Legion Post 12 was overflowing last night with residents of East Greenwich, North Kingstown and Jamestown who came out to enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, and a lively forum on the issues at the thirtieth community cookout hosted by Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Sheldon Whitehouse. Whitehouse talked about the need for new Democratic leadership in the Senate that will work for real solutions to tough challenges, from the war in Iraq to the high cost of health care to our crippling dependence on foreign oil.

"We have a President who just won't stand up to the consequences of his failed policies in Iraq - and refuses to take real action to rapidly and responsibly redeploy our troops," Whitehouse said. "The situation in Iraq makes it all the more clear that it's time we have a leadership in Washington that will address the real challenges facing our families - and our nation."
