Statement on the 9/11 Committee Recommendations

U.S. Senate candidate Tom Kean Jr. released the following statement in advance of Bob Menendez's press conference on full implementation of the 9/11 committee recommendations:

"The 9/11 Commission went to great lengths to avoid politicizing the events of September 11, 2001, which is precisely the reason the committee was conceived as an independent and bipartisan commission. Five Democrats and five Republicans worked extraordinarily hard to keep politics from standing in the way of their mission to provide a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The bottom line is that Bob Menendez has no credibility on the issue. His latest dash to the microphone is a sad and desperate attempt to bolster a weak record in an election year. It's interesting to see him step forward now - when he actually has something to gain. Menendez's latest stunt isn't exactly the "profiles in courage" type of leadership we should expect from our elected officials."
