Kean Repeats Challenge to Menendez: Release Grand Jury Testimony

Refuses to accept Kean's challenge to release testimony of twelve grand jury visits

U.S. Senate candidate Tom Kean Jr. reiterated his challenge to Bob Menendez to release his grand jury testimony.

"Bob Menendez continues to use his testimony against a corrupt political boss -- his mentor -- as a cornerstone of his campaign. However, he refuses to release the grand jury testimony. He refuses to let the citizens of New Jersey know the extent of his involvement and his knowledge of Bill Musto's illegal activities," stated Kean Jr. "The people of New Jersey deserve a Senator they can trust. My record is open and transparent. I have been fighting for honest government since my first days in the legislature and I will continue to do so in the United States Senate."

"There are a lot of questions that need to be answered about Bob Menendez's story. The pieces just don't fit. Did Bob Menendez stand up to corruption when he saw it, as he says he did? Or was he subpoenaed -- an unwilling participant in a trial he now lauds as a cornerstone of his public statements on reform? Why would someone get called before a grand jury twelve times? What did he know, when did he know it and what did he say? Is Bob Menendez telling the truth?" questioned Kean spokeswoman Jill Hazelbaker. "If he is the reformer he claims to be, he will release his testimony."
