CONGRESSMAN HENRY CUELLAR SUPPORTS FLORESVILLE TECHNOLOGY CENTER

Washington, DC- Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar announced the he has secured language in the Labor, Health Services, and Education committee report to allocate funding for a nursing, medical services, and technology training facility in Floresville. The bill provides $300,000 for the renovation, construction, or acquisition of an educational facility that will offer medical and technology training.

The modern training facility would be an extension of the Alamo Community College System (ACCD), and would be used to train nursing and medical technology candidates. One of the project's main goals is to alleviate a severe shortage of medical professionals in rural areas by providing advanced training close by. The program is part of the Floresville Technology Center, which will also provide training in other technology fields.

"It is one of my highest priorities to make education and health care accessible to all Americans. However, many of our rural communities are plagued by the lack of trained health care professionals. I strongly believe that programs like this one have the potential to improve the livelihoods of countless people," noted Congressman Cuellar.

Congressman Henry Cuellar is a member of the House Budget and Agriculture committees in the 109th Congress; accessibility to constituents, education, health care and economic development are his priorities.
