Congressman Henry Cuellar Passes 11th Amendment Integrated Health For Rural & Underserved Urban Areas

CONGRESSMAN HENRY CUELLAR PASSES 11TH AMENDMENT INTEGRATED HEALTH FOR RURAL & UNDERSERVED URBAN AREAS

Washington, DC- Today, Thursday, July 27, Congressman Henry Cuellar passed an amendment to federal legislation in support of underserved rural and urban populations. This amendment will add priority to Integrated Health System grant proposals which improve medical care access and health care through health information technology to underserved rural and urban patients.

Congressman Cuellar's amendment to H.R. 4157 emphasizes the priority of improving access, coordination, and provision of health care to the uninsured, underinsured, and medically underserved in rural and urban areas by incorporating the latest technologies in the delivery of health care. "This bill lays the essential groundwork for a new era of accessibility and quality health care that all Americans deserve, regardless of where they call home," said Congressman Henry Cuellar.

"Citizens in America's remote, rural, isolated, and urban areas, which often lack sufficient medical services, face insurmountable challenges to access to quality health care and treatment," Congressman Cuellar added.

The amendment passed today is Congressman Cuellar's 11th, making him one of the most active and successful members in amending legislation.
