Anniversary of September 11, 2001
Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) today issued the following statement on the anniversary of September 11, 2001 and tributes held around Connecticut .
"This weekend, we pause - to reflect on a moment unlike any other in American history, and to honor those serving our country.
"Wherever we were on the morning of September 11that home getting our kids dressed for school, with our colleagues just sitting down at workwe all shared in the tragedy of that day. Each of us experienced emotions felt by all Americans - emotions of grief, anger and a deep, profound sense of sorrow. That day a nation was transformed by its anguish. But as much as September 11th filled us with a sense of national purpose, it also bound us as a community - indeed, it bound each of our communities.
"And so, today, with this tributethis expression of communitywe honor the memory of all those whose lives are marked by September 11th, we say today, You are not alone. Your community stands with you. And it always will.'"
