Senate Report Proves No Iraq Connection To September 11th Terror, Says DeLauro

Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) issued the following statement after a Senate report on prewar intelligence on Iraq released this afternoon shows there is no evidence connecting Saddam Hussein to terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and his Al-Qaida associates.

"This report provides clear, irrefutable evidence that there was no connection between Saddam Hussein's regime and the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks. It also shows that the Bush administration was fully aware of that fact well before it pushed for war with Iraq .

"Unfortunately, the Republican Congress only investigated this matter after Democrats shut down the Senate last year. The Republicans' failure to investigate them sooner represents a dereliction of constitutional responsibilities by the Republican Congress."
