Suozzi Offers Eliot Shitzer Debate Notes for Next Discussion of the Issues

Responds to AG with Humor and Hard Facts

Tom Suozzi today offered his opponent an abridged version of his debate book to help the truth-challenged Attorney General keep his facts straight.

"I want to help Eliot see the real difference between rhetoric and reality on the issues and hopefully prepare him to have a reality-based debate the next time around," Suozzi said. "In all seriousness, our debate showed better than anything why we need more debates - how else are voters going to learn the truth about where we stand on the critical issues facing New York?"

At a press conference at the state capitol today, Suozzi released a series of notes that lists the biggest fictions Spitzer told during the debate:

- Spitzer misrepresented his own record in support of the death penalty.

- Spitzer's Albany Math-based tax savings "plan."

- How Spitzer would pay for the CFE lawsuit, with his savings "plan."

- How he would pay for his promise to deliver universal healthcare

- The hidden costs of his property tax shift.

"Eliot can run from his inconsistencies and his misrepresentations of his own record, but he can't hide the truth, which is that he has failed time and again to challenge the status quo in his eight years in Albany," Suozzi said.

"What we saw Tuesday night was just an inkling of the real differences between Eliot and me and the real choice for New York's Democrats If we are to give voters a real chance to take our measure, one hour in one city is just not enough. I am ready to meet Eliot anywhere anytime on any issue. He may claim that he does not need notes, but as this first debate has shown, he should probably bring a calculator."
