Statement of the Hon. Rosa L. DeLauro Save the Sound Meeting

Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) issued the following statement on a Save the Sound meeting hosted in her office today.

"I was pleased to host today's meeting with Save the Sound. The broad opposition to this project is evident by the large group of people from a variety of organizations and levels of government who gathered here today. The Long Island Sound is one of the region's most precious natural resources and the industrialization of the Sound is unacceptable.

"The Broadwater LNG facility is simply the wrong answer to meeting the complicated and broad energy needs of our state and our region. There are better solutions such as those outlined in the report by Synapse Energy. We need to make sure that FERC and all of the related federal agencies considers these alternatives and make a decision which is in the best interests of the health and vitality if the Long Island Sound."
