I did not plan my life around a run for Congress, but I feel that my life has prepared me well to serve the people of the First Congressional District. The last eighteen months have confirmed my belief that southern Minnesota is looking for independent leadership and that people are eager to have a serious discussion about the issues. Not only have people confirmed that belief with words - they're also speaking with their actions and their pocketbooks. So far, during 2006 I raised nearly $20,000 more than my opponent despite the fact that he is a six term incumbent.

I know the kind of hard work required of me during the next few months and I am eager to prove to the voters of southern Minnesota that I am the independent leader they are looking for.
